NMMS Scholarship 2025-26: The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) 2025-26, awarded by the Ministry of Education (earlier MHRD), is one of the most important government scholarship schemes for meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds. Every year, one lakh students of Class 8 are selected for this scholarship, which provides ₹12,000 annually to support their education from Class 9 to Class 12.

This scheme aims to reduce dropout rates after Class 8 and encourage students to continue their studies up to higher secondary level.

Eligibility Criteria for NMMS 2025-26

To apply for the scholarship, students must meet the following conditions:

• Must be studying in Class 8 in a government, government-aided, or local body school.
• Must have secured at least 55% marks in Class 7 (50% for SC/ST).
• The annual parental income should not exceed ₹3.5 lakh from all sources.
• Students of NVS, KVS, Sainik Schools, private schools, or residential institutions are not eligible.

For continuation:

• Minimum 55% marks in Class 9 (50% for SC/ST) to get Class 10 scholarship.
• Minimum 60% marks in Class 10 (55% for SC/ST) to renew for Class 11.
• Must pass Class 11 to continue in Class 12.

NMMS Scholarship Exam 2025-26 – Pattern

The selection test consists of two papers:

1. Mental Ability Test (MAT) – Tests reasoning and problem-solving ability.
2. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – Covers subjects like Science, Social Science, and Mathematics.

• Mode: Offline (OMR based)
• Duration: 90 minutes for each paper
• Marks: 90 marks each (MAT & SAT)
• Syllabus: Class 7 & 8 NCERT syllabus with focus on Maths, Science, Social Science, and Reasoning.

Application Process via NSP Portal

The NMMS application must be submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – scholarships.gov.in.

Steps to Apply:

1. Visit NSP Portal and register as a new student (Class 9) or renewal applicant (Class 10–12).
2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) using Aadhaar-based eKYC and face authentication.
3. Upload required documents:
   • Income certificate
   • Caste certificate (if applicable)
   • Domicile certificate
   • Marksheet of Class 7/8
4. Submit the application before the deadline.
5. Applications will undergo two-level verification –
   • L1 (Institute Nodal Officer)
   • L2 (District Nodal Officer)

Scholarships are credited directly into students’ bank accounts via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

NMMS Result 2025-26

• Results are declared by State SCERTs in online and offline mode.
• Merit lists are published with candidate’s name, school, roll number, and scores in MAT & SAT.
• Students can check results using their roll number/admit card details on the respective state SCERT websites.
